None. HouseMath has no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. We have no server that receives your data, and we have no ability to identify you or your device.
The figures you type into the app (home price, down payment, interest rate, loan
term, ZIP code, property tax rate, insurance premium and PMI settings) are saved
only on your own device, using Apple's standard local storage
(UserDefaults), so the app can restore them the next time you open it.
This information never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or shared with anyone. Deleting the app removes it permanently.
HouseMath makes one kind of network request: it asks the Federal Reserve Bank of
St. Louis (FRED) at fred.stlouisfed.org for the current published
Freddie Mac average mortgage rates. There are two, fetched together, one for the
30 year survey rate and one for the 15 year.
This happens automatically once when you open the app, and again if you tap Refresh rates or reset a tab. Nothing else triggers it.
Those requests send no personal data, no identifiers, and no information about you, your device, or the figures you have entered. They only ask for public, published interest rates. As with any web request, that server will see your device's IP address; their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policy. If a request fails or you are offline, the app carries on using rates built into it, so every feature works without a connection.
The ⓘ menu at the top left of each tab links to this policy, to our support page
and to a bug report form, all on grayglen.com. Tapping one
hands the address to Safari; nothing is sent in the background. The bug report link
carries the app version number on the end so the form arrives with that box filled
in. That is the whole of it. No identifier, nothing about your phone, and nothing you
have typed into the app.
If you go on to submit that form, we receive only what you chose to type into it.
HouseMath contains no third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks, advertising networks, crash reporters, or social media integrations. No data is sold or shared, because no data is collected.
HouseMath collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.
HouseMath is an estimating tool. Property tax rates and home insurance premiums shown in the app are statewide approximations that vary by county, city and property, and are held flat over the life of the loan. The figures are for general illustration only, are not an offer of credit, and are not financial, tax, or legal advice. Always confirm actual costs with your lender, insurer and local tax authority.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date above.
